"Kinesthetics: Art Imitating Life" Contemporary Exhibition on Movement

Alan Rath, Lala ZaZa, 2006, wood, aluminum, polyethylene, fiberglass, G-10, Delrin, software, computers, electronics, motors, and feathersKinesthetics: Art Imitating Life is a contemporary exhibition that focuses on sculptures that mimic the movement of the body, of trees and other organic forms, with the aid of technology. Artists represented in this exhibition employ sophisticated robotics and engineered mechanisms that are powered by electricity, solar power or wind power, to create sculptures that achieve elegant and highly articulated gestures. Co-curated by Nick Battis and Linda Lauro Lazin, the show features work by artists Casey Curran, Chico MacMurtrie, Reuben Margolin, Alan Rath, Adriana Salazar, Björn Schülke, and Che-Wei Wang.
