2012 Pratt Fashion Show + Cocktail Benefit

Pratt Institute's graduating seniors in fashion design will present stunning, original looks for women and men at the 2012 Pratt Institute Fashion Show. 

Fern Mallis, creator of New York Fashion Week, former executive director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), and former senior vice president of IMG Fashion, will be honored with the Pratt Institute Fashion Industry Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented by designer Calvin Klein.

The show will be followed by a cocktail benefit in honor of Mallis. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit student scholarships and Pratt Institute's Department of Fashion Design.

Senior Class Film Showcase

Six bachelor's degree candidates from Pratt Institute's Department of Film and Video will present their thesis work as part of a free screening of individual short thesis films. The "Senior Class Film Showcase" will feature innovative work from the program and will offer the community a chance to see the ingenuity and creativity of emerging filmmakers. It is the culmination of each student's cinematic interests, and is not restricted in content or style. The resulting films from this year's degree candidates are traditional narrative and experimental fiction films.

Pratt Show 2012

Pratt Show 2012 is an annual juried exhibition of exceptional design work by over 300 of Pratt's graduating students. Juried by Pratt faculty, this annual event will feature the best work by students in various programs at Pratt including advertising, communications design, digital arts, fashion, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, interior design, jewelry design, and package design.

Commencement Ceremony

Pratt Institute will honor an expected 1,300 bachelor's and master's degree candidates during its 123rd Commencement. The Institute also will award honorary degrees to contemporary artist, curator, and social, political, and cultural critic Ai Weiwei in absentia; architect, engineer, and artist Santiago Calatrava; patron of the arts and education Kathryn C. Chenault, Esq.; and Director Emeritus at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Fiske Kimball Professor at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts Philippe de Montebello. Santiago Calatrava will deliver this year's Commencement remarks.

2012 Look & Listen Festival

The Look & Listen Festival is an annual event dedicated to presenting new music in art galleries. Three concerts will take place amidst work by master’s degree candidates from Pratt Institute’s Department of Fine Arts. International Contemporary Furniture Fair 

The 24th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) will map the newest frontier of what’s best and what’s next in design. Pratt Institute's booth will be among more than 500 exhibitors from all points on the globe that will display contemporary furniture, seating, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, materials, wall coverings, accessories, textiles, and kitchen and bath for residential and commercial interiors.

Writing Program Professors to Read at Literary Festival  

Pratt's Writing Program will represent Pratt under the name "Art School Confidential" at the Lit Crawl literary festival in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Humanities and Media Studies Professors Samantha Hunt, James Hannaham, and Thad Ziolkowski will read fiction pieces relating to art.
